Changemaker Program
The Changemaker program is directed at students in upper secondary school and supports committed young people in implementing innovative project ideas to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. As a result, the young participants themselves provide the initiative for shaping the future in a sustainable way and become changemakers in our society. By implementing their projects, the youths also broaden and deepen their own entrepreneurship skills and can gain valuable experience for the future.
In Austria, the selected project teams are supported in two categories:
- Category 1 - Changemakers
Projects that are carried out and completed by the end of the school year.
- Category 2 - Changemakers going Start-up
In this category, a concept for a start-up is developed, which is to be implemented in the following years.
As a participant in the Changemaker program, the young people receive support in the development and implementation of their projects - through experienced mentors, individual workshops, support for their own crowdfunding campaign, coverage of development costs and presentation of the projects at various events (e.g. at the Entrepreneurship Summit).
In addition, the Rotary Youth Award for Sustainability and the Changemaker Award are presented annually to the best teams. These awards recognize projects by young people that aim to bring about a positive change in society and the economy and are thematically related to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. The prizes awarded range from participation in the Youth Start European Entrepreneurship Award, tickets to networking conferences or financial support for their own crowdfunding campaign, to the opportunity to pitch their idea to experienced investors. This will support and encourage the teams in their next steps.
